We've had many complaints about the 4Runner's lack of power, and feel of hesitation when getting on the gas. Jason Burtman, of Burtman Industries just doesn't let any product get in the door. When he heard about this product, he shook his head and said, "Prove it!" So, we sent some test units to some of our customers and asked them to report back to us. Immediately, we started getting calls asking if they could keep it. Only then, did we start offering this product. This is an upgrade that you can feel with normal everyday driving, not just on the track at redline like most other performance upgrades! What is the Sprint Booster? Most cars in the 21st century have replaced the more conventional metal throttle cable for an ECM (Electronic Control Module) that translates how hard the pedal is pushed into an electronic signal in order to provide power to the wheels. This is also known as "Drive-By-Wire", and can have the unfortunate downside of delayed response and subdued acceleration. This of course can create problems in certain situations such as up-hill starts, quick gear changes, and passing. The Sprint Booster FIXES this delayed throttle response on your 4Runner by providing increased acceleration time (eliminating delay) on the drive-by- wire unit by continuously measuring and converting the digital signal and providing the ECM (Electronic Control Module) with a new and altered signal for much quicker response. This improves response, increases pedal input sensitivity and delivers more impressive off the line performance you can really feel. It's a simple plug-n-play installation which takes a few minutes and delivers instant response throughout the power band. If you are still confused, simply put, this device amplifies the signal from your gas pedal to the throttle body. It eliminates the delay that is inherent on the Drive by Wire technology on certain vehicles. The 4Runner, being one of them. Burtman Industries works directly with the factory and can even have these custom made for other makes makes and models, be sure to ask. At low revs, the engine responds at approximately half the time in comparison to before, see chart above The delay time accelerating in 3rd and 4th gear and the engine in the mid-range, is almost zero. Yes, if someone really wants to steal your car, they will find a way, but this is just another layer of protection may make them take someone else's car. WILL NOT VOID YOUR WARRANTY: As far as dealership concerns there is a law called the Magnuson Moss Act. Sprint Booster works manufacturers OWN safety protocols so it's a no worry option. How do you install it? This is the best part. No cutting, no soldering, nothing but a few seconds. It plugs INLINE with your current wiring. You unplug the cable coming off the ECM, which is behind the gas pedal, and easy to get to. You unplug it, plug this in the middle, and the other end connects back up to the factory wiring. Just wanted to drop a quick note and say "thank you" for the booster. It arrived on Friday and I installed it right away. Took it out for a test drive and couldn't really tell that big of a difference at first so I was on the fence about whether or not it really worked. When my wife took it out for a whirl however, we bumped it up to RED 9 and wow, what a difference!! The 4Runner feels so much more alive and responsive. As others have said, this is how the car should have came from the factory. So yes, add me to your list of clients who are completely satisfied with the booster. Thanks again for all your help! just ordered a sprint booster from Burtman Industries... lifted my truck, put on 33s, and 1.25 spacers , I have the v8 03 sr5 and was not thinning I was lacking on power at all- to be clear, but I drive like it like I stole it now because of that V8 power and if there’s a way to go faster why not, after reading the forum it looks like a lot of people didn’t know what they were missing and say they wouldn’t drive without one of these boosters so naturally my finger slipped and I just bought one. since I ordered it from Burtman I’m assuming it will be here before I’m done with this post lol, seriously they are super quick over there, so I’ll come back and give a full review. So, I took a sip of the Kool-Aid. Then after installing I drank the whole pitcher. Like others have said the install takes all of about 15 minutes. The first ten of which are spent with the door open waiting for the CANBUS system to work itself out. I took this opportunity to find a spot for the controller. Once the truck sat for 10 minutes I used the Squeeze-Push-Pull method and the accelerator pedal connector popped right off. I have only driven for about and hour so far but I like what I am experiencing. Before I would tell the truck "Go!" and it would respond "Okay. I hear what you are saying but let's put a pin in that thought and discuss other ideas we can try together". Now I tell the truck "Go!" and it responds "OK!". I started at Green 9 and for now have settled on Red 5. I jumped around a little between Red 5 and Red 9 but for now I will keep it on Red 5 and see how I feel after some more seat time. The real test was letting the wife drive it and see her reaction and it passed the wife test with flying colors. I asked her to drive my truck to dinner tonight. After pulling out of the driveway and then taking off from the stop sign at the end of our street she says "What's wrong with your truck?" I responded "What do you mean 'what's wrong with it?" To which she said "It doesn't suck to drive anymore" Did Sprint Booster give me more horsepower? No, and I didn't expect it to. Did it dramatically change the driving experience? Absolutely. I have a brand new 2019 T4R Nightshade. Didn't think I would need this, but had a close call on the freeway the other day - not used to having to nearly floor the pedal when pulling out for a pass! Looking forward to positive result! William Gilleran 11-01-2018 08:01pm
